Fifth Season

Coaching

Partnering with you to tend purpose, cultivate leadership, and meet your fifth season.

The four seasons visit us year after year, and the transitions between them are almost always gradual, a steady turning of the wheel. The seasons of a life turn the same way, and at times it seems we spend most time in the turning: arriving, only to arrive again. This turning is the fifth season.

Our fifth seasons don’t fit neatly on a calendar, but they come anyhow, often at unpredictable intervals and in unexpected ways.

Maybe the foundation of your company is built on your own strength, but now you’re realizing that strength is the ceiling; or you might be leading a team through a change that is out of step with any plan you’ve made.

Maybe you’ve gotten really good at what you do, but don’t know where to take that hard-earned capacity next; or you always seem to know what everyone else needs, but can’t seem to figure that out for yourself.

Or maybe, you’re in a season that you would have never chosen for yourself.

I partner with people and organizations in such moments, to work in the distance between knowing something and living it. That distance tends to close in dialogue, in the words you find for what you’ve already sensed, with someone alongside you while you enact them.

When people have asked what my favorite season is, I share that I don’t have one. I just like it when the seasons change.

Hi, I’m Hanna Kuo. I’m a leadership advisor and coach, and spent twelve years working in People and Talent at growing startups, facilitating the essential conversations during moments of change: who gets hired or promoted, what support is possible when a teammate is going through personal difficulty, what’s reasonable when someone isn’t meeting the demands of the role, and how a leader holds themselves when a team is coming apart. The work underneath was always the same: helping leaders and individuals through their fifth seasons.

I care about who people are, how their life and work form them, and how they in turn help form others, and the world. Coaching is where that care feels most alive, and I’m now training to be an Integral Coach with New Ventures West.
